Indian lawyer, Bhadresh Gohil, in 2010, was convicted of 13 counts of money laundering alongside other offences linked to his role of helping James Ibori hide funds gained from criminal activities.

James Ibori was Governor of oil-rich Delta State from 1999 to 2007.

According to channelstv.com:

Gohil was ordered on Monday to pay just over £28 million or face a further six-year sentence, Reuters reported on Monday, citing a statement from Britain’s Crown Prosecution Office (CPS). The lawyer was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2010 and has served half of his sentence.

This decision is coming after the former Delta State Governor was on Friday given an order to pay £101.5 million ($130 million) or face an eight-year sentence.

James Ibori had been convicted for laundering millions in Britain and elsewhere.
