German defensive midfielder, Joshua Kimmich, said, his side, Bayern Munich must avoid “the simple mistakes” they made against RB Leipzig on Saturday 30 September, 2023.
According to Kimmich, “the simple mistakes” the Bavarians made gave way for RB Leipzig to go two goals ahead early in the Bundesliga 2023/24 match at the Red Bull Arena Stadium.
Openda and Lukeba placed the Red Bulls ahead in the 20th and 26th minutes respectively.
Thomas Tuchel’s side woke up in the second 45 minutes of the encounter with Harry Kane opening scoring for the visitors in the 57th minute from the penalty spot, and Leroy Sane leveling in the 70th minute.
Kimmich, in his press conference ahead of the Uefa Champions League 2023/24 match between his side, Bayern Munich, and FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Tuesday 3 October, 2023, said: “We know that Copenhagen are very strong at home. They went unbeaten at home in last season’s Champions League group stage. We need to be well prepared.”
“We got off to a poor start against Leipzig and made things easy for them by making simple mistakes. We can’t allow that to happen tomorrow. We need to be focused for the full 90 minutes – if we do that, then I think we’ll be able to win the game.”
“Scoring early on is always good, as we saw in the Pokal match. We’re aware of what we’re up against and know that Copenhagen are strong at home. It won’t be easy. We will prepare the best we can and try to win the game.”
On his teammate, Leroy Sane, Kimmich said: “He’s always been a driving force. He’s extremely physical. It’s impressive to see how he’s able to consistently deliver strong performances. It’s a fitting reward for all the hard work he puts in. You can tell he’s having fun out there, and it has an impact on the rest of us as well.”
