Championship club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and head coach Rob Edwards alongside his team of coaches have parted ways.
The Club made the announcement via a statement on Thursday 11 June, 2026.
Edwards was sacked with his coaching team following a “comprehensive” review at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The English pro football manager returned to the Molineux in November, 2025 after his first spell at the Club in 2016 as Interim manager. He joined the Old Gold during the “most challenging periods” in the Club’s recent history.
The Statement reads: “Wolves have parted company with head coach Rob Edwards and his coaching team.
“Edwards returned to Wolves in November at one of the most challenging periods in the club’s recent history and worked tirelessly, alongside his staff, to stabilise the football operation and help move the club forward.”
Wolves said, relieving Edwards of his managerial duties at the Club was essential as the Club focuses on its forward movement when the 2026/27 season commences.
The Statement continues: “Following a comprehensive review at the conclusion of the season, the club has determined that a change in leadership is necessary as Wolves enters the next stage of its development.”
The Club confessed, Edwards alongside his coaching team encountered “significant challenges” during his second spell, however, it “ultimately concluded that a different sporting direction would provide the strongest platform for future success”.
Nathan Shi, Executive Chairman, said: “I would like to personally thank Rob and his staff for everything they have given to Wolves during what has been a very difficult period in the club’s recent history.
“Rob accepted the challenge of returning to Wolves at a time when the situation was extremely challenging, and throughout his time here he has conducted himself with professionalism, integrity and commitment.
“Our decision was not about character, professionalism or dedication.
“While there were positive signs and areas of progress, we ultimately concluded that a different football direction would better align with the style, identity and level of competitiveness we want to establish at the club.
“Our ambition is to build a football club capable of achieving sustainable success.”
Wolves were relegated to the Championship after finishing bottom (20th spot) in the Premier League 2025/26 with twenty (20) points.
Out of thirty-eight (38) games, the Old Gold were able to squeeze out three (3) wins, bagged eleven (11) draws, and suffered twenty-four (24) losses.
