Lassa Fever: ‘Human-to-human spread possible through direct contact with body fluids of infected person’ – NCDC

The spread of Lassa Fever human-to-human is possible when there is a direct contact with the body fluids of an individual that is infected, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says.

According to NCDC: “Human-to-human spread of #LassaFever is possible through direct contact with the body fluids of an infected individual. 


“Avoid direct contact with body fluids or personal belongings of persons suspected or confirmed with #Lassafever.


“Take extra precautions to protect yourself and those around you.

Cleveland Clinic (my.clevelandclinic.org) says:

Lassa fever is a type of viral hemorrhagic illness you can get from humans or rats infected with Lassa virus. It’s common in West Africa. Most people get mild symptoms, like fever and headache. But about 1 in 5 people has serious illness.
