The clash was so tough that three red cards were recorded – AC Milan bagged two while Inter received one.

Francesco Acerbi was left unmarked when he opened scoring for the Nerazzurri via a header in the 18th minute, and Marcus Thuram added the second for Simone Inzaghi’s side in the 49th minute.

Fikayo Tomori, England defender, hit the back of Inter’s net through a header from close range in the 80th minute to hand the Rossoneri some brief hope of levelling, however, the Nerazzurri held on till the end.

AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria were red-carded in the 3rd and 7th minutes of additional time respectively, while Inter’s Denzel Dumfries got sent off also in the 3rd minute of additional time.

At the final whistle, Inter players and coaches charged into the pitch to celebrate as they emerged the new Kings of Italy at San Siro, the home ground of both sides.

HC: Inzaghi has really strengthened Inter. A lot of changes to the team. Congrats to the Nerazzurri!!!
