Brazil, winners of the World Cup a record five (5) times, defeated Scotland 3-0 in their final Group C match on Wednesday 24 June, 2026 at the multi-purpose Miami Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States (US).
Real Madrid player, Vinicius Junior, put the Green-Yellow in front in the 7th minute, and in the 22nd minute, the winger thought he had added the second, but, his goal was struck out by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
However, in the 3rd minute of first half additional time, Vinicius netted his brace to place the scoreline 2-0 in favour of the South Americans. It was Newcastle United midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes, who provided for Vini to extend Brazil’s lead.
In the 60th minute of action, with Guimaraes’ assist once again, Manchester United forward, Matheus Cunha, placed the icing on the cake with the third for Brazil to help the South American side finish as Group C winners with seven (7) points.
Brazil have now scaled through to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 after drawing with Morocco and defeating Haiti before the game on Wednesday.
The Scots have three (3) points from the preliminaries after their win over Haiti and lone goal loss to Morocco. The European side will now wait nervously to see if they qualify as one of the best third-placed finishers.
After the showdown inside the Miami Stadium that had more than 60,000 spectators, Scotland now have their World Cup 2026 in huge peril after their whipping in the hands of Brazil.
