The conflict in Sudan has led to rapid deterioration of the health of women and girls in the Northeast African country.
The UN sexual and reproductive health agency said, “hunger, disease, violence and a lack of health care are destroying women and girls’ lives in #Sudan.”
It further said, “more than 116,000 displaced pregnant women are struggling to access life-saving services.”
The fighting between two rival factions of the military government of Sudan, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under Hemedti, which started in April, 2023, has led to humanitarian crisis in the country.
According to UNFPA: “Hunger, disease, violence and a lack of health care are destroying women and girls’ lives in #Sudan.
More than 116,000 displaced pregnant women are struggling to access life-saving services.
Attacks on health care are unacceptable and MUST STOP.”
