South Africa: President Ramaphosa appoint first female chief justice

Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, has appointed the country’s first female chief justice, named Mandisa Maya.

The Presidency described the move as “a significant milestone for the country.”

According to Reuters via VOA: “South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday named Mandisa Maya as the first female chief justice, effective on September 1, following consultations with the Judicial Service Commission.


This is a significant milestone for the country, the presidency said.”
