Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea: Gunners come from behind to win at home

Arsenal fought from the back to emerge victorious by two (2) goals to one (1) in the Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday 6 September, 2026 at Emirates Stadium in London.

Both London-based Clubs headed into the contest with 100% starts to the new season with six (6) points each after two (2) games.

Arsenal, under manager Mikel Arteta, cruised past Coventry City 3-0 in the top flight opener and recorded a lone goal victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park, while, Chelsea defeated Fulham and Brighton 3-2 and 4-3 respectively.

The Blues however have been scoring and conceding freely under new manager, Xabi Alonso.

Just two (2) minutes into the game, the Blues took the lead through Morgan Rogers with a supply from Dutch defender, Jorrel Hato, but, the home side levelled after ten (10) minutes through Riccardo Calafiori, however, the goal was chalked off by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

That cancelled goal only got the hosts infuriated as they charged on against their London neighbours, and in the 25th minute, England midfielder, Declan Rice provided for German forward, Kai Havertz, who converted to level for Arsenal as both sides headed for a break with a 1-1 scoreline.

Five (5) minutes after the restart of the London derby, Norwegian midfielder, Martin Odegaard, collected an assist from Greek left winger, Christos Tzolis, to hit the back of the net and make it 2-1 for the Kings of England.

The game on Sunday evening was a big test for Arsenal in the defence of their Premier League title. The Gunners passed the test in style as they struck back from conceding very early in the game to clinch maximum points on home turf.

Chelsea also pushed to find the back of the net for a second time, but, an effort from substitute, Estevao, was denied by Gunners goalkeeper, David Raya.

With this result, Arsenal remain second with nine (9) points, same points as toppers, Manchester City; Hull City are third with seven (7) points, while Chelsea are fourth with six (6) points.

Following the comeback triumph, in its post-victory reaction via X, Arsenal posted: “A MASSIVE WIN”.
