Lucas Digne, French defender, has completed a permanent move to French reigning Kings, Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), a Club he earlier featured for in 2013.
The left-back joined the Premier League Club in January 2022 from Everton Football Club and recorded 182 appearances for the Villans, finding the back of the net four (4) times and registering twenty-four (24) assists.
The Frenchman was a pivotal member that helped Aston Villa clinch the Uefa Europa League 2025/26 with a fine 3-0 win over Freiburg; and France reach the semi finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 hosted in the United States (US), Canada and Mexico.
The Les Bleus lost in the third place to Thomas Tuchel’s England 4-6.
Via an official statement, Aston Villa wrote: “A consummate professional, who was highly regarded by his fellow players and staff alike, Lucas leaves Aston Villa with the very best wishes of everyone at the football club.”
The contract Digne signed will keep him with PSG, Uefa Champions League 2025/26 Winners, until 2029. He will wear the number 12 shirt.
Lucas Digne was born on 20 July 1993 in Meaux, in Seine-et-Marne (Île-de-France); he rose through the ranks at French Club, Lille.
A statement on PSG’s official website, reads: “Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the return of Lucas Digne. The French international defender has signed for the capital club until 2029. He will wear the number 12 shirt.”
The defender is known for his left foot quality, pass accuracy and his consistency at the highest level. He brings to PSG his wealth of experience.
In his post-signing comments, Digne said: “I am very honoured to be returning to Paris Saint-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than ten years ago. I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years.
“The working conditions at the Campus are exceptional and reflect the club’s ambitions. I can’t wait to start this new chapter and put all my experience at the service of the team. Once again, I will give my very best to defend the colours of Paris Saint-Germain.”
