France’s ‘dream stops at the gates of the final’

Just at the edge of the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, France collapsed in Texas after clashing with Spain on Tuesday night.

The Les Bleus were conquered for the first time in the tournament 0-2 by a well-organized La Roja in the semi final match that took place inside the Dallas Stadium in Texas, United States (US).

The France Men’s National Football Team reacted on X, Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus’ “dream stops at the gates of the final”.

With the combination of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise, France were still unable to make any meaningful impact against the Spaniards as they managed to record just two (2) attempts on goal overall.

France will now play the loser between England and Argentina in the third place on Saturday 18 July, 2026 at Miami Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, US at 22:00 (WAT).

Following the shocking “disappointment”, France Men’s National Football League reacted: “Our Blues fall to Spain in the World Cup semi-final, and will play the match for 3rd place on Saturday, July 18.

“We win together, we lose together. Les Bleus will have one last battle to fight to end this World Cup on the podium.

“The dream stops at the gates of the final. The disappointment is immense but there remains one last battle to fight together.”

It expressed its gratitude to all for the support since inception of the tournament.

It wrote: “Thank you for all the support since the start of the World Cup.”

In his post-defeat reaction, President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said, the loss is “hard to take“, he however, congratulated the Spaniard for reaching the final.
