Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has sent his congratulations to former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, following his (Atiku) victory in the Presidential Primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Atiku emerged winner of the ADC Presidential Primary which held on Tuesday and has been announced as the Party’s Presidential candidate for the 2027 Nigeria Presidential Election next year.
Tambuwal, who served as Governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023, described Atiku’s victory as a “reflection of the growing desire among Nigerians”, saying, Waziri Adamawa is “experienced and people-centric”.
Via X, the Senator serving the Sokoto South Constituency since 2023, said, Nigeria is currently standing at a “critical crossroads”, and the country is plagued by “economic hardship and insecurity”, adding, Atiku, whom he says possesses “capacity” will “inspire hope” in all “regions and generations”.
In his congratulatory message, Tambuwal said: “I congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji @atiku, GCON, Waziri Adamawa, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“This victory is not merely a personal achievement, but a reflection of the growing desire among Nigerians for experienced, courageous, and people oriented leadership capable of steering the nation through these challenging times.
“Nigeria today stands at a critical crossroads. Our people are confronted by economic hardship, insecurity, division, and growing uncertainty about the future. It is therefore understandable that many Nigerians continue to rally around leaders with proven national outlook, democratic credentials, and the capacity to inspire hope across all regions and generations.”
The 12th Speaker of the House of Representatives called on all Nigerians to ensure they prioritize “national interest” over “personal ambition”, as well as, behave “peacefully” as Nigeria draws nigh to another crucial electoral cycle.
Tambuwal further said: “As the nation gradually moves towards another important electoral cycle, I urge all political actors and citizens alike to place national interest above personal ambition, conduct themselves peacefully, and remain committed to the unity, stability, and progress of our dear country.”
Atiku defeated Rotimi Amaechi (second) and Hayatudeen (third) to emerge winner of the ADC Presidential Primary.
Following his victory, Atiku said, he is “ready to lead” the country.
