Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) have secured their place in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 final against Premier League side, Arsenal, after finishing against Bayern Munich in the semi final second leg 1-1 on Wednesday 6 May, 2026 at Allianz Arena in Germany.
The French side reached the final with a 6-5 aggregate victory.
This means the French Kings will be looking to retain their Crown as Kings of Europe, while, Arsenal, who are Premier League 2025/26 toppers, will be eyeing to lift the trophy for the first time in their existence.
The match in Munich was not as entertaining as the fist leg which held at Parc des Princes in the French Capital, which recorded a whopping nine (9) goals with PSG winning 5-4.
England Captain, Harry Kane, levelled for the German side deep in stoppage time, but, it was not enough to encourage the home side to victory as the night finished in disappointment for Vincent Kompany’s Bavarians.
The showdown was not as classic as the first leg, however, it recorded opportunities and intense quality.
It was the French visitors who took the lead very early, in the 3rd minute, after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia provided for Ousmane Dembele; and Bayern tried hard to find their way back in the game, but, the home side were frustrated.
Bayern thought they should be awarded a penalty after Vitinha’s clearance struck Joao Neves’ arm inside the box, however, the law states, a penalty kick cannot be given if the ball had been played by a teammate.
PSG had better goal chances in the second half, with Desire Doue coming close severally, but, Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, ensured to deny the French attacking midfielder.
The pressure from Bayern Munich on PSG was really fierce, and, in the 4th minute of additional time Alphonso Davies assisted Kane, who netted for the hosts, but, it was not enough to cancel the deficit.
PSG will now slug it out with Arsenal in the final at Budapest, Hungary on Saturday 30 May, 2026.
HC: Bayern Munich were apparently gallant but that early goal did all the damage, it was Kompany’s job to avoid that. Probably, they can console themselves with the Bundesliga title. Kudos to Enrique for his second consecutive Champions League final. But, can PSG win the UCL back-to-back? Arteta wants it too, so badly!!
