Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has announced, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) has been officially unveiled as the Governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ogun State 2027 Elections.
Abiodun made known on X, the decision to unveil ‘Yayi’ as the ‘Broom’ Party’s Guber candidate was made after “extensive consultations and strategic engagements” through the Party.
The Governor said, the Party needs a “strong and credible” candidate for the task in front.
Governor Abiodun announced: “We have officially unveiled Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg) in Ogun State for the 2027 election.
“This decision follows extensive consultations and strategic engagements with key stakeholders across the party, all aimed at presenting a strong, united, and credible candidate for the task ahead.”
Abiodun said, after the concensus was reached, the Party successfully secured the “understanding and support” of top contenders from Ogun West, which encompass, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Rt. Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade.
He said, the Party is resolute to shatter the “long-standing jinx” and make sure that the next Governor of the Southwestern State comes from Ogun West.
Governor Abiodun said: “In reaching this consensus, we secured the understanding and support of leading aspirants from Ogun West, including Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Rt. Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, who have demonstrated commendable unity and commitment to the collective interest of the district and the party.
“Together, we are determined to break the long-standing jinx and ensure that Ogun West produces the next governor of our dear state.”
The Governor said, before ‘Yayi’ was made the “choice”, the Party ensured that all aspirants were “carefully assessed” to ascertain their levels of “competence”, as well as, their “alignment” with Ogun State’s vision.
He added, ‘Yayi’ possesses all these “qualities” required to “sustain” the progress the Gateway State has achieved over time.
Governor Abiodun said: “We engaged widely, including at the highest level, and carefully assessed all interested aspirants based on competence, capacity, and alignment with our vision for Ogun State.
“Our choice reflects not only these qualities but also a shared commitment to sustaining the progress we have made over the years.”
APC will continue to “grow stronger and more United”, Abiodun prayed; he called on all members to remain “aligned” to the collective goal of the Party as they gear up for the forthcoming gubernatorial battle.
The governor expressed certainty that, Senator Adeola will deliver “greater” dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun State.
Governor Abiodun said: “As a party, we continue to grow stronger, more united, and better positioned to lead Ogun State into a new phase of development. We call on all members to remain focused, law-abiding, and aligned with our collective goal as we prepare for the forthcoming gubernatorial contest.
“With this mandate, we are confident that Senator Adeola will build on the legacy of progress and deliver even greater dividends of democracy, in line with the aspirations of our founding fathers and the expectations of our people.”
Dapo Abiodun has been serving as Governor of Ogun State since 2019 and will conclude his eight-year tenure in 2027.
