British heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury, made his return to boxing to emerge victorious over Russian heavyweight boxer, Arslanbek Makmudov, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday 11 April, 2026.
Fury clinched a wide unanimous decision over Makhmudov with another British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, watching keenly from the ringside.
After losing twice to Ukrainian boxer, Oleksandr Usyk, Fury retired from the sport for sixteen (16) months; however, made his way back to the ring with Makhmudov his selection.
Fury was fighting to extend his career and to catch potentially the most handsome prize of his entire career later this year.
Makhmudov, known for being deadly in a fight in the early stages, charged into Fury from the opening bell; and the Brit allowed the Russian force him into the ropes.
With his right, Makhmudov threatened Fury early in the bout, however, the Brit absorbed the rushes and later took control.
In his post-Makhmudov comments, Fury said: “If it ain’t Anthony Joshua next, I’m not interested in boxing. It’s either him, or I’m gone again. … that’s the defining fight in British boxing.”
In the 10th round, both boxers punched fiercely and Makhmudov lethargically lost his footing and slipped down to the canvas.
Just before the bell, Fury startled Makhmudov with his right and then landed a left hook to his chin.
After his victory, fury immediately called out Joshua and declared: “Next, I want to give you the fight you’ve all been waiting for.”
Fury continued: “I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua. Let’s give the fight fans what they want – the Battle of Britain. I challenge you Anthony Joshua to fight me the Gypsy King next.
“Do you accept my challenge?”
Joshua replied: “Tyson, you are a clout-chaser. I’ve never had no problem getting in a ring with you, I punched you up as kids [when they sparred]. Watching you tonight I’ll punch you up again.
“With all due respect, tonight is your night. You won’t tell me what to do. I’ve been chasing you the last 10 years, when you’re ready you come and see me and tell me your terms and conditions.
“I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord. You work for me.”
