Super-substitute, Benjamin Sesko, has come to Manchester United’s rescue for the second game running as the Slovenia international netted the only goal for the Reds against Everton in the Premier League 2025/26 match on Monday 23 February, 2026 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.
Sesko’s sensational winner is coming thirteen (13) days after the striker helped Manchester United grab one (1) point in the top flight game against West Ham United in London.
On Monday night, the 22-year old launched a clinical finish to a counter-attack that he started deep in his own half to hand his side the victory on the road.
Sesko beautifully placed Bryan Mbeumo’s pass into the bottom right corner in the 71st minute to hand Michael Carrick’s Manchester United all crucial three (3) points.
The win has moved United back into top four as their chase for a spot in the Uefa Champions League next season stays alive.
Sesko kept running towards the goal area of the Toffees after laying a pass to Matheus Cunha, who delivered a long pass to Cameroonian forward, Mbeumo, who then found Sesko, after the Slovenian had outrun the defence of Everton, and after properly positioning himself, Sesko netted his 8th goal of the season.
The victory means interim boss, Carrick, has now emerged winner in five (5) of his six (6) games in charge.
In a game that recorded few goal chances, James Tarkowski denied Ivorian winger, Amad’s effort in the first half after Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, had half-saved the ball.
Everton’s best attempt at goal through teenage player, Harrison Armstrong, was denied by Reds goalkeeper, Senne Lammens; and Michael Keane’s powerful shot from long range was tipped over by the Belgian goalie.
This result means Everton have now played seven (7) games at home without a win in all competitions.
While Manchester United are 4th on the table with forty-eight (48) points, Everton are 9th with thirty-seven (37); both after twenty-seven (27) games.
