Brazilian winger, Vinicius Jr, said, in his post-victory comments, that, he wants to “continue like this and help the team” after scoring twice in the La Liga 2025/26 match against Villarreal at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday 4 October, 2025.
The win is coming after the Los Blancos suffered a humiliating 5-2 defeat in the hands of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid last weekend.
After a goalless first half, it took Vinicius just two (2) into the second half to net the opener for Xabi Alonso’s side; the Brazil international who really threatened Villarreal’s defence went ahead to score the second for the home side in the 69th minute from the penalty spot.
After English midfielder, Jude Bellingham, who started on the bench, was denied one on one chance by Tenas, the visitors halved the deficit through Georgia striker Georges Mikautadze in the 73rd minute.
Four (4) minutes later, Santiago Mourino, Villarreal defender, was shown his second yellow card and sent off for pulling Vinicius back.
In the 81st minute, French forward, Kylian Mbappe, made the triumph safe for Real Madrid after converting Brahimi Diaz’ selfless assist.
A Lilliputian shine was taken off the victory after the former PSG playmaker was seen limping off the pitch some moments later after his goal with what looked like a foot injury; the Frenchman was replaced by Rodrygo.
