Also, a 15-year old boy was injured during the incident and has been taken to hospital for medical attention.
In its assessment of the windstorm damage, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) disclosed, “the windstorm, which occurred on Sunday, 26th January 2025, caused significant destruction to livelihoods.”
According to NEMA: “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South West Zonal Office, in collaboration with the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has conducted an assessment of the recent windstorm incident in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The windstorm, which occurred on Sunday, 26th January 2025, caused significant destruction to livelihoods, including damage to fish ponds and solar panels used to power water supply systems for the ponds. Several buildings were also affected, including Ikangba Comprehensive High School. A 15-year-old boy was injured during the incident and has since been hospitalized for treatment.
The assessment team, accompanied by the Chairman of Odogbolu LGA, Dr. Babatunde Diya, visited the affected areas to evaluate the extent of the damage.
Affected residents shared their experiences and appealed to both the Federal and State Governments for relief materials to help them rebuild their lives.”
