Trump opens new gold course in Scotland

President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, opens his new golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

The US President, who is in Scotland on a four-day visit, met with First Minister John Swinney.

Trump and Swinney are expected to talk about whisky tariffs and the middle east in a one-to-one, before the 47h US President opens a new course at his Aberdeenshire golf resort.

Trump International, Scotland posted on X: “We welcome President Trump and his family as they return to their cherished Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire to open the New Course. The President hosted the Prime Minister and special guests at MacLeod House this evening prior to tomorrow’s grand opening ceremony.”

BBC reports: “Swinney is seeking an exemption for Scotch from a 10 per cent tax, known as a tariff, imposed on UK exports to the US.

“The trade body said around a fifth of all Scotch whisky is exported to the US – a market worth £971m in 2024 – and the tariffs are currently costing the industry £4m a week.”
