Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has expressed his deep sadness following the aircraft Collision that occurred near Ronald Reagan National Airport on Wednesday evening.

President Tinubu said, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Washington, D.C.”
An American Airlines passenger plane collided midair with an Army Black Hawk Helicopter at the Potomac River in Washington DC.
The plane carried sixty-four (64) people, while the helicopter had three (3) soldiers on board when the collision happened.
So far, twenty-eight (28) bodies have been recovered from the River, according to officials.
The Nigerian President commended “the courageous efforts of first responders and emergency teams for their selfless work in harsh conditions”, and said, “Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States Government and its People”.
In his condolence message, President Tinubu wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Washington, D.C.
On behalf of Nigeria, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of the United States, and all affected by this profound loss. I commend the courageous efforts of first responders and emergency teams for their selfless work in harsh conditions.
Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States Government and its People, united in grief and hopeful for a new day.”
