‘Deep sadness’ – More reactions after Diogo Jota passes in car crash

Saudi Professional League club, Al Hilal, has expressed its “deep sadness” after learning of the death of Liverpool Portuguese forward, Diogo Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, in a car crash in Spain.

Al Hilal are gearing up for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 quarter final showdown against Brazilian side, Fluminense, on Friday 4 July, 2025 at 20:00.

The Saudi Club shocked Premier League side, Manchester City, with a 4-3 win to progress, while Fluminense defeated Serie A side, Inter, 2-0.

Reactions to Diogo Jota’s passing

Al Hilal posted on X: “Everyone at Al-Hilal is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

“The club sends our heartfelt condolences to their family, friends and everyone connected to their football clubs.”


Manchester City wrote on X: “Everyone at Manchester City is shocked and saddened to learn about the devastating news regarding the passing of Diogo Jota.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and everyone at Liverpool Football Club at this difficult time.

“Rest in peace, Diogo.”


Tottenham Hotspur wrote on X: “Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Diogo Jota.
