Governor Mbah made known via his official X account: “I had the honour of inaugurating the Management Board for the Protection of State-owned Social Homes, chaired by my dear wife, the First Lady, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah.

“This initiative reaffirms our commitment to the care and dignity of the most vulnerable among us. From the outset, we made it clear that our bold vision for growth would go hand in hand with the eradication of poverty. Inclusive prosperity means nothing if it does not uplift the weakest links in our society.

“Serving alongside the First Lady are Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke as co-Chairman, Rev. Canon Chibuike Okolo as Vice Chairman, and the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Enih.

“Other members include Rev. Sr. Mary Gloria Iloka, Rev. Sr. Veritas Onyemelukwe, Pastor Elias Anyigbo, Mrs Anna Igbokwe, and Barr. Chidi Egonu. Barr. Uzoama Okeji will serve as Executive Secretary.

“These are individuals of sterling character, proven competence, and deep compassion. We are confident that they will bring transformation to our social homes. As a government, we are committed to equipping them with the tools and funding needed to ensure that our people in these homes live in comfort and dignity.

“I have charged the Board to discharge their duties with fairness, transparency and full adherence to the law.

“In the same spirit of justice and mercy, I have granted clemency to eleven inmates of our Correctional Centres. This was done under Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution, following recommendations from the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

“I commend the efforts of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Kingsley Udeh, and members of the Advisory Council, including representatives from the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Carmelite Prisoners Interest Organisation (CAPIO), the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP), and other stakeholders in the justice sector.”
