President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced, Nigeria will host leaders, investors and innovators from sixteen (16) different countries at the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES 2025) in Abuja, the country’s capital.
President Tinubu said, West Africa is “building one region. One future.”
He added, the region has the “youth, resources and will” to rise with “one voice”.
In his initial announcement on WAES 2025, President Tinubu stated, the Summit “is not just an event but a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation and our people.”
WAES 2025 is scheduled to take place in two (2) days – June 20-21, 2025 with the theme ‘Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region’.
Via a statement, President Tinubu said, “WAES 2025 will bring together Heads of State, CEOs, investors, to craft real solutions and unlock real opportunities.”
President Tinubu announced via his official X account: “In 10 days, Nigeria will host leaders, investors, and innovators from across 16 nations at the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES 2025) in Abuja.

This announcement is coming following the President’s return to Abuja after spending his Sallah holiday in Lagos.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu attended the Golden Jubilee of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) where he mentioned to fellow West African Leaders the economic milestones of the Bloc.
From the 50th anniversary celebration of ECOWAS, the President headed to commission several projects in the Southwestern State including, the completed section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Superhighway; the Lekki Deep Sea Port Road leading to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lekki, Lagos.
