Updated – Beautiful Nigerian women who competed in different events of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England really raised Nigeria flag high as they helped clinch 12 Gold medals for the country.
With this feat, Nigeria becomes the first African country to appear on the medals list placing 7th with a total of 35 medals – 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 14 Bronze.
Next African team on the medals list is South Africa placing 9th with a total of 27 medals – 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 11 Bronze.
World Athletics Championships record breaker Oluwatobiloba Ayomide ‘Tobi’ Amusan clinched Gold in the Women’s 100m Hurdles and set a new Games record after finishing in the Final with a 12.30s timing.
Ese Brume won Gold in the Women’s Long Jump and set a beautiful new Games record of 7.00m.
Nigeria’s Women’s 4×100m relay team inspired by Tobi Amusan won Gold and also went ahead to set a new Games record.
The Nigeria’s Women’s 4×100m relay team which comprised of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwu and Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha achieved victory in the Women’s 4×100m relay with a new African record of 42.10 second.
Australia top the medals list of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England with a total of 178 medals – 67 Gold, 57 Silver and 54 Bronze.
England emerged second on the medals list with a total of 176 medals – 57 Gold, 66 Silver and 53 Bronze.
Canada placed third on the medals list with a total of 92 medals – 26 Gold, 32 Silver and 34 Bronze.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games started on 28th July and ended on 8th August.
