Less than 24 hours after defeating Serena Williams, British tennis number one player Emma Raducanu discomfited former world number one Victoria Azarenka from Belarus.
With a 6-2, 6-0 victory in Cincinnati, Raducanu continued her preparations for the forthcoming defence of her US Open title.
The 19-year old Briton played Azarenka, who is a veteran just some hours after clinching a 6-4, 6-0 victory on Tuesday over 40-year old American player Serena Williams.
Williams will draw the curtain on her tennis career after the US Open.
Jessica Pegula is Emma Raducanu’s next opponent in the last 16 of the Western and Southern Open.
Raducanu is ranked 13th in the world and Pegula is seventh seed, both will lock horns on Thursday.
After beating 22nd-ranked Azarenka, Raducanu said: “I was playing a great match for sure and to play Vika I had to stay focused throughout.”
