Soul Train Awards 2022: Burna Boy, Tems, Fireboy DML bag nominations

Nigerian musicians Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu and Temilade Openiyi, both professionally known as Burna Boy and Tems respectively, have bagged different nominations in the forthcoming 2022 Soul Train Awards.

The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday 13 November, 2022, in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, US, the BET announced.

The Soul Train Awards acknowledges the finest in Soul, R&B and Hip Hop from both established industry legends and the promising artists of the next generation.

The nominees for the Soul Train Awards were officially selected by a voting academy of esteemed music industry insiders, performers, and presenters.

As released by BET, in official nomination for Soul Train Awards 2022, Burna Boy bagged nominations in ‘Best R&B/Soul Male Artist’, his global hit single “Last Last” in ‘Song Of The Year’ category, as well as, in the ‘The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award’ and ‘Video of the Year’ categories.

Tems bagged nominations in three categories, namly; ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Best R&B/Soul Female Artist’, and ‘Best Collaboration’.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, was not left out of the fun, as he bagged two beautiful nominations in the ‘Best Dance Performance’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories for featuring in Chris Brown’s “call me everyday” song.

American female musicians Beyonce and Mary J. Blige, led the Soul Train Awards 2022 with six and seven nominations respectively.

The ‘Brown Skin Girl’ Crooner bagged nominations in ‘Best R&B/Soul Female Artist’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, and twice for ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award’ categories.

Mary J. Blige got nominated in ‘Certified Soul Award’, ‘Best R&B/Soul Female Artist’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award’, ‘Video of the Year’, and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories.

Other Nigerian artists that got nominated for the 2022 Soul Train Awards are Chukwuka Ekweani and Adedamola Adefolahan, professionally called CKay and Fireboy DML respectively.
