Michael Olawale-Cole, LCCI President, in his comments yesterday at Dangote Group’s special day at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair, confessed, the conglomerate has amply contributed in providing solutions to issues government has found difficult to successfully deal with, especially, in areas of food sufficiency, energy, housing and construction of roads.

Olawale-Cole said, Dangote Group has always been at the front position when it comes to creation of jobs, also noting that the Group’s products and services have positively affected the lives of millions of people across the continent of Africa and beyond.

Rabiu Umar, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Dangote Group, welcoming participants to the Group’s special day, revealed, the Group has “invested in several projects which are meant to create jobs” as well as bring about “rapid industrialization of the Nigerian Economy”.

Umar stated during the fair, themed, “Connecting Businesses, Creating Value”, that, the Dangote Group takes investment decisions targeted towards building values for all stakeholders across the subsidiaries.

“Our participation at all major trade fairs across Nigeria demonstrates our belief that Chambers of Commerce & Industry occupy a unique position in driving economic development through their activities. Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) occupies a unique position as the pioneering chamber and has continued to play a ‘significant role in the economic growth of Lagos and Nigeria in general.

“We have invested in several projects which are meant to create jobs and enhance rapid industrialisation of the Nigerian economy,” Umar said.

He further said: “our food subsidiaries, Dangote Sugar Refinery, NASCON Allied Industries (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Rice are providing jobs through various schemes. Dangote Sugar Refinery, through its out-grower scheme, has provided jobs to thousands of farmers in the host communities. The coming of Dangote Fertiliser has to a great extent helped to change the face of agriculture in Nigeria while the Dangote Petroleum Refinery when functional will drive the development of ancillary industries which will utilize the byproducts as raw materials.”
