Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, netted as Galatasaray defeated Lille 4-2 on Wednesday 21 October, 2026 in the Uefa Champions League 2026/27 League Phase match at Decathlon Arena-Stade Pierre-Mauroy in France.
The result means The Yellow-Reds have finally clinched their first points of the Uefa Champions League new season.
With the aim to recuperate from the 4-1 wallop in the previous match of the competition by Spanish La Liga side, Barcelona, the visitors quickly went in front in just sixty-six (66) seconds of play through Turkish attacking midfielder Yunus Akgun.
Akgun capitalized on a feeble defensive header from Alexsandro, Lille defender, and netted high into the net.
But, the home side immediately rallied and levelled in the 7th minute through 19-year old Soriba Diaoune. The Frenchman went on to find the net the second time in the 39th minute to help Lille lead 2-1.
The Yellow-Reds were awarded a penalty in the middle of the first half after Berke Ozer, Lille goalkeeper, appeared to trip Osimhen, however, the penalty was struck off following a check by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Galatasaray fought back and levelled before the break, in the 44th minute through Aleksey Batrakov’s header, and in the 52nd minute, the scoreline was 2-3 in favour of the visitors.
Algeria national team defensive midfielder, Nabil Bentaleb, hit the back of his own net to gift Galatasaray their third goal.
In the 61st minute, Osimhen crowned Galatasaray’s efforts with the fourth goal with an assist from Barış Alper Yılmaz. The reigning Kings of Turkey carted home all three (3) points as they recorded their first win out of three (3) encounters in the continental competition.
Osimhen, Super Eagles star, piled more woes on his former Club with his goal as the French Ligue 1 side have now concluded three (3) UCL League Phase encounters without recording a win.
Osimhen was handed the Player Of The Match (POTM) award following his outstanding performance for Galatasaray.

Currently, Galatasaray are 23rd on the Uefa Champions League 2026/27 table with three (3) points, while, Lille are 35th with zero (0) point.
