England attacking midfielder, Morgan Rogers, inspired Chelsea to a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Manchester United in the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, London on Saturday 31 October, 2026.
The outcome means Michael Carrick’s Reds have now gone nine (9) games in all competitions without a win as more pressure gets mounted on the English manager.
This also means United have dropped way below top ten on the Premier League table, currently on the 16th spot with just one point atop the red zone.
The Reds scored first in the 34th minute through Matheus Cunha, Brazilian forward, but, his goal was chalked off by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after the Brazil International was adjudged to be offside.
United had an encouraging first half with a good performance against their hosts, but, fell short after the restart, and this allowed Xabi Alonso’s Blues to thrive in the contest.
Chelsea took advantage of the Reds’ collapse in the second half to take the lead just five (5) minutes after the break, with Romeo Lavia providing for Rogers who made sure to net.
And, in the 64th minute, Cole Palmer netted the second from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded the home side after a VAR check.
VAR caught Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez’ arm on the face of Wesley Fofana, and the golden opportunity was handed the hosts to double their lead which was well-converted by Palmer.
The foul also resulted to the sending off of Martinez after he was shown his second yellow card of the game.
The outcome should have extended to 3-0 to slam more misery on the campaign of United under Carrick, however, Estevao’s goal in the 71st minute was canceled by VAR.
A good opportunity for Bruno Fernandes was wasted by the Portuguese midfielder, and Amad Diallo failed to find the back of the net after two (2) one-on-one chances with Blues goalkeeper, Mike Penders.
Currently, Chelsea are 4th on the table with sixteen (16) points, above Liverpool with fifteen (15) but with one unplayed game.
