Finidi George guided Rivers United to an impressive 5-0 triumph over Kun Khalifat FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2026/27 match on Thursday 24 September, 2026 at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Defensive midfielder, Salman Abubakar, netted a brace for the Pride of Rivers as the home side moved to second in the standings after four (4) games.
The Port Harcourt-based club have three (3) wins and one (1) draw.
The first half of the clash recorded just one (1) goal in the 26th minute when Rivers United took the lead through Abubakar, and, four (4) minutes after the break Mbaoma Chijioke added the second.
Abubakar netted his second and third for the hosts in the 58th minute; Wasiu Falolu and Ekene Awazie found the fourth and fifth in the 62nd and 84th minutes respectively.
With this result, Rivers United have accumulated ten (10) points and are trailing toppers, Barau FC, who have amassed eleven (11) points after five (5) games, while, Kun Khalifat FC are 19th with two (2) points from five (5) encounters.
