Real Madrid 4-1 Rayo Vallecano: Mbappe with the brace, Bellingham on target

Real Madrid breezed past Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga match at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday 12 September, 2026, thanks to a double from France forward, Kylian Mbappe.

The win means Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid have moved level on points with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, however, the Los Blancos have played one game more than their arch rival.

It was a fine bounce back to winning ways after a shocking defeat in the hands of Real Betis in their last top flight showdown last weekend. Madrid suffered a lone-goal defeat away.

Real Madrid raced to three (3) goals within thirty-five (35) minutes through Mbappe, Álvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham.

In the 14th minute, Mbappe opened the scoring for the home side from the penalty spot, sending Emil Audero, Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper, the wrong direction. Madrid won the penalty after Carreras was fouled inside the box.

Mbappe then turned provider for Carreras, who made it two (2) for the hosts in the 17th minute; it was the Frenchman returning the favour to the Spanish left-back.

In the 35th minute, England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, added the third for Real Madrid with an assist from Brazil winger, Vinicius Junior; the former Borussia Dortmund player side-footed a cut-back from the Brazilian into the net.

Rayo Vallecano pulled one back six (6) minutes after the break through Sergio Camello, but, in the 1st minute of additional time, Mbappe converted Turkish attacking midfielder, Arda Güler’s assist to make it four (4) for the Los Blancos at home.

Mbappe fired Güler’s assist low and strong into the far corner to ensure Real Madrid bagged four (4) wins from their five (5) games of the new season.

Following the outcome, Real Madrid are second with twelve (12) points from five (5) games, closely trailing Barcelona, who have same points from four (4) games, while, Rayo Vallecano are 15th with four (4) points from five (5) games.
