Abiodun At 66: A journey of ‘responsibility and sacrifice’

Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, turns sixty-six (66) today, Friday 29 May, 2026.

Abiodun expressed his gratitude to God Almighty for “seven impactful years of purposeful service” as Governor of Ogun State.

Dapo Abiodun was born on May 29, 1960 in Iperu, Ogun State.

In his tribute to himself on X, Abiodun wrote, the “journey” as Leader of the Southwestern State has been loaded with “responsibility and sacrifice”, saying, he is “deeply humbled” by the “support and prayers” of the “good” people of Ogun State.

The Governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after emerging Senatorial Candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District; he thanked the President alongside First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu for their “support and encouragement”.

Governor Abiodun wrote: “Today, I celebrate with profound gratitude to Almighty God as I mark my 66th birthday anniversary and seven impactful years of purposeful service as Governor of Ogun State.

“The journey over the years has been one of responsibility, sacrifice, learning, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of our dear state. I remain deeply humbled by the trust, support, prayers, and encouragement of the good people of Ogun State whose collective belief in our vision continues to inspire me daily.

“As I also reflect on my emergence as the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg) Senatorial Candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District, I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President @officialABAT, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for their leadership, support, and encouragement.

“I also deeply appreciate Chief Olusegun Osoba, our revered party leaders, stakeholders, members of our great party, my family, friends, political associates, and the good people of Ogun State for their unwavering support, prayers, and confidence in my leadership over the years.

“May Almighty God grant us greater strength, wisdom, peace, and continued progress as we build a stronger Ogun State and a better Nigeria together.”
