Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea were unable to withstand the determination of Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) as the Premier League side were ousted from the Champions League right on home turf.
On Tuesday 17 March, 2026, PSG cruised past Chelsea 3-0 in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 round of 16 second leg clash at Stamford Bridge in London, England with Georgian left winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, inspiring the visitors with his early opener.
It was a crushing 8-2 aggregate Champions League last 16 fall slammed on the Blues as the Les Parisiens progressed to the quarter finals.
Chelsea were eyeing to overturn a three-goal deficit after suffering a 5-2 loss in the first leg in Paris, France last Wednesday, however, that ambition was immediately made unreachable as PSG, who are the reigning Kings of Europe, found the back of the net twice within fourteen (15) minutes in West London.
The French Ligue 1 2024/25 Champions netted their third goal in the second half to seal their position as a strong force to contend with in the continental tournament.
In the second half, a frustrated Rosenior withdrew three key players from the action – Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro – however, that made no positive impact as the hosts still got knocked out.
After making all three substitutions, the home side had to finish the showdown with ten (10) men after defender, Trevor Chalobah, was stretchered off the pitch, and all three substitutions made.
PSG went in front quickly, in the 6th minute, through Kvaratskhelia, and in the 15th minute, Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi provided for Bradley Barcola, who made it two for the French side; Barcola launched a beautiful half-volleyed finish into the top corner.
The Georgia international was awarded the Player Of The Match (POTM) for his amazing contribution to PSG’s victory on the road.

Enrique’s boys were the dominant side as they showed why they could well retain their Champions League title with their stunning thrashing of Chelsea.
And, in the 62nd minute, substitute Senny Mayulu sealed the win for PSG, just some seconds after Rosenior made his triple substitution.
Teenage star, Mayulu’s goal, an icing on the cake, forced fans of the English side to exit the venue as Chelsea’s Uefa Champions League campaign came to an embarrassing end.
It was a sweet revenge for PSG, who were walloped 3-0 by the same Chelsea, but, guided by Enzo Maresca, in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which held in the United States of America (USA).
In his reaction to Chalobah’s injury, Rosenior said: “I think he was really worried. I’ve checked with the medical team, we’ll scan and assess him tomorrow. We’re hoping and praying it’s not as bad as we first feared.”
