Arsenal were held to a goalless draw at the City Ground by Nottingham Forest for the second consecutive season, in the Premier League 2025/26 match on Saturday 17 January, 2026.
The Gunners, guided by Mikel Arteta, created a lot of good chances to score, but, could not.
Neither Nottingham Forest nor Arsenal were able to record a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes, though both forward, Gabriel Martinelli, and defensive midfielder, Martin Zubimendi, shot wide when well placed.
After the break, the Tricky Trees’ goalkeeper, Matz Sels, stretched fully to ensure Buakyo Saka’s effort was saved; also, the visitors’ appeal for a penalty was turned down.
Arsenal were unable to emerge winner in the clash away, but, successfully extended their lead at the top of the table by one (1) point.
After a goalless first quarter of an hour, Arsenal had a couple of corners in quick succession on both flanks, but, were unable to convert, with Martinelli denied.
Then, Ben White fired over the bar from twenty (20) yards after Noni Madueke has provided for him.
With the Gunners piling pressure on their hosts, Madueke turned provided again, this time for Zubimendi, who shot the ball wide.
Arsenal were frustrated after their penalty appeal was not granted as they recorded back-to-back goalless draws in the top flight, however, with their lead extended agasint Manchester City, who were beaten 0-2 by neighbour, Manchester United, at Old Trafford earlier on Saturday.
Next, Arsenal take a trip to San Siro for a Uefa Champions League 2025/26 League Phase match against Inter on Tuesday 20 January, 2026 at 21:00 (WAT).
