At least, eleven (11) people have been killed and twenty-nine (29) others wounded in a mass shooting that happened at Bondi Beach in the city of Sydney, Australia.
The unfortunate event happened “on the first day of Hanukkah”.
The Police disclosed, two (2) Police officers are among the affected.
According to Al Jazeera: “One man believed to be one of the shooters has also been killed, while a second alleged shooter is in critical condition. Authorities designate the shooting a “terrorist” incident, saying it was “designed to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah”.
“Video shows a man, identified as “hero” shop owner Ahmed al Ahmed, disarming one of the attackers.”
People in their hundreds had converged at the Beach for an event called Chanukah by the Sea, which was celebrating the commencement of Hannukah, a Jewish Festival.
Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia, condemned the “targeted” attack, saying the evil that was unleashed was “beyond comprehension”.
A part of the Statement posted on X by the Australian PM reads: “The scenes in Bondi are shocking and distressing. Police and emergency responders are on the ground working to save lives. My thoughts are with every person affected.
“I urge people in the vicinity to follow information from the NSW Police.”
Also, the mass shooting has received “strong” condemnation from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who described it as “ghastly terrorist attack”.
The Indian PM made it clear in his statement, “India has zero tolerance towards terrorism”.
Modi posted on X: “Strongly condemn the ghastly terrorist attack carried out today at Bondi Beach, Australia, targeting people celebrating the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
“On behalf of the people of India, I extend my sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the people of Australia in this hour of grief.
“India has zero tolerance towards terrorism and supports the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism.”
