Nottingham Forest sacks Postecoglou after 3-0 loss against Chelsea

Greek manager, Ange Postecoglou, has been sacked by Nottingham Forest after the Club suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the hands of Chelsea on Saturday 18 October, 2025 in the Premier League 2025/26 clash at City Ground.

This is happening just few minutes after the match; Postecoglou got relieved of his managerial functions with the Tricky Trees after only eight (8) games, recording no victory.

The top flight encounter which led to the sacking of the former Tottenham Hotspur boss had Chelsea win 3-0 with Josh Acheampong scoring his first for the Blues; Pedro Neto and Reece James netting the second and third respectively.

Via a statement on X, Nottingham Forest described the Club’s results under Postecoglou as “disappointing” as it announced, the former Celtic boss “has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect”.

Nottingham Forest announced: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.

“The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou joined Nottingham Forest after helping Tottenham Hotspur win the Uefa Europa League 2024/25, defeating Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United in the final by a lone goal in Bilbao, Spain.

The Yokohama F. Marino’s former head coach’s reign at the City Ground has now emerged as the second-shortest managerial spell in the history of the Premier League.
