Nigeria to face Gabon in World Cup Play-off

Nigeria will slug it out with Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Play-off after winning against Benin on Tuesday night by four (4) goals to zero (0) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

The victory hands the Super Eagles a spot in the World Cup Play-off semi final, and a win against The Panthers of Gabon takes Nigeria to the final and then the inter-confederation playoffs.

Nigeria and Gabon will play on November 13.

Frank Onyeka’s volley against the Cheetahs of Benin which sealed Nigeria’s beautiful victory has been described as “perfect finish” by the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles wrote on its official X account: “Pure technique, precise touch, perfect finish.”

Nigeria clinched a spot in the 2026 World Cup Play-offs after finishing second in Group C with 17 points, trailing leaders, South Africa, by one (1) point.
