Governor approves ‘357’ new projects at State Executive Council meeting

Umo Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has approved “357” new projects on Tuesday.

The Governor gave the approval for the projects at the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Uyo.

Eno said, the projects will be executed by qualified youths and companies through the State’s procurement portal, describing the decision as “another big win for transparency and opportunity”.

Additionally, Eno ratified the contract for the 350-bed world class medical facility, the Ibom International Hospital.

Governor Eno posted on X: “Yesterday, I presided over the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Uyo, where we took far-reaching decisions to advance our ARISE Agenda.

“We approved 357 new projects to be executed by qualified youths and companies through our procurement portal, another big win for transparency and opportunity. We also ratified the contract for the Ibom International Hospital, a 350-bed world-class medical facility.

“We reviewed 771km of road projects across the 31 LGAs to be aligned with the 2026 People’s Budget.”

The Council also, increased the South-South State’s CNG Bus order from twenty (20) to fifty (50) buses to cover all thirty-one (31) Local Government Areas (LGAs), and gave the approval for equipment for the Akwa Ibom Sports Festival starting September 8, featuring 18 sports.

The Governor also posted: “Council also:

• Approved a Power Summit to drive reliable and affordable electricity

• Inaugurated Committees on Tourism Development and Combating Illegal Mining.

• Approved equipment for the Akwa Ibom Sports Festival starting September 8, featuring 18 sports.

• Directed acceleration of works at the Oron Maritime Terminal with ferries and jetties for the blue economy.

• Increased our CNG bus order from 20 to 50 buses to cover all 31 LGAs.

• Reviewed the Tourism Destination Plan with the Tony Blair Institute to market Akwa Ibom as a global tourism hub.

• Noted the commencement of the INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and directed mobilisation across all LGAs.
