Zubaida Umar, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said, the way to measure “true success” is by “the lives one impacts”.
The NEMA DG made the statement as she expressed “deep sense of pride and fulfilment” while standing before the 2025 graduating students of my Alma mater, Essence Secondary School, Kaduna, as a Special Guest of Honour.
Umar urged the graduating students to pursue “success and impact”, and emphasized that, the world is “fast-paced” and loaded with “challenges”, as well as, “rich with opportunities and possibilities”.
Taking to X, Zubaida Umar said: “It’s with a deep sense of pride and fulfilment that I stood before the 2025 graduating students of my Alma mater, Essence Secondary School, Kaduna, over the weekend, as a Special Guest of Honour.
“Essence Secondary School is where my journey began and my dreams were first planted. Walking through the gates of the school that laid the foundation of my life brought back a wave of beautiful, cherished memories which I gladly relived.
“In my remarks, I urged the graduating students to not just chase success, but also impact. True success is not measured by titles or income, but by the lives one impacts, the integrity one upholds, and the legacy one leaves behind.
“While thanking our parents and teachers for their roles, l challenged the young minds to boldly pursue their dreams and find their purpose.
“I emphasized that though the world is fast-paced and full of challenges, it is also rich with opportunities and possibilities.
“If Zubaida — a girl child with just dreams — from Essence Secondary School could rise to lead a national agency, then there is no limit to what they, too, can achieve.”
