Moghalu exposes why African countries have failed to develop

President and Vice Chancellor of the African School of Governance (ASG), Kingsley Moghalu, has said, African countries are finding it very difficult to develop because of the “ritual of 4-5 yearly elections” which is believed will bring development.

He said, every “focus” is placed on “politics”, while “real governance” is sidelined; he suggested, because policies change every four (4) years, “we need National projects rather than Party ones”.

Moghalu continued, elections should be about who is ready to deliver “on the national project”.

Taking to his official X account, Moghalu said: “The mistaken notion that a ritual of 4-5 yearly elections will bring development is why many African countries have failed to develop.

“Thus the focus is always on politics rather than real governance. Polices change every four years. We need NATIONAL projects rather than PARTY ones.

“Elections should be about WHO is best equipped to deliver on the national project. Africa needs to address this conundrum squarely.

“There is no consensus. Consent has not been manufactured. These are the critical essentials that must be sorted out first.”
