The Government of Delta State has made known, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, is implementing the directive by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, which orders the granting of unconditional bail to all suspects involved in bailable offences.
According to the Delta State Government via its official X account: “Following the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun PhD NPM, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered that all suspects involved in bailable offences such as simple offences or misdemeanors must be granted bail unconditionally and must not be detained overnight in police cells.
“This directive, released through the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), aims to uphold citizens’ rights and promote accountability.”
