Chelsea FC: Cole Palmer to change squad number ahead of 2025/25 season

Premier League outfit, Chelsea FC, has confirmed that, attacking midfielder, Cole Palmer, will move to the No. 10 shirt ahead of our 2025/26 campaign, beginning from the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Englishman, who has flaunted the No. 20 shirt since signing from Manchester City in September 2023, will make the change ahead of the Blues participation in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 tournament and could wear 10 for the first time when the Blues lock horns Los Angeles FC in Atlanta on June 16.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will take place in the United States of America (USA) and will be hosted in more than ten (10) Stadia.

Lovers and Supporters are reminded that the full list of squad numbers for the 2025/26 season will be finalised once the summer transfer window has closed.

They remain subject to change until that time.

Cole Palmer inspired Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea to a 4-1 beautiful triumph over Spanish La Liga club, Real Betis, in the final of the Uefa Europa Conference League 2024/25 in Poland on Wednesday 28 May, 2025.

Palmer’s stunning assist was well converted by Argentine midfieder, Enzo Fernandez, to level for the Blues after Real Betis had gone in front.

Nicholas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moses Caicedo netted the second, third and fourth goals respectively for Chelsea.

This feat means Chelsea have emerged the first team to cart home all of Europe’s three (3) major trophies.

English defender, Reece James, who expressed devastation for not starting, said in his post-victory comments: “It’s devastating to find out you’re not starting a final. I want to play every game, but it was the manager’s decision

“I needed to accept it and move on and come on if I was needed. In the first half, we were very flat.”

On Jadon Sancho, Chelsea have made the decision to pay for his return to Manchester United after the Blues rejected obligation to sign.

The Blues will pay a penalty of £5m to Manchester United to get out of the obligation instead.

The English winger will go back to Manchester United at the end of June after being unable to reach personal terms for his extension with Chelsea.
