Geeman Bundesliga 2024/25 Champions, Bayern Munich, held a detailed conversation with Canadian Soccer Association (Canada Soccer) representatives as regards the circumstances surrounding the Alphonso Davies’ serious injury following the player’s cruciate ligament rupture during international duty in March this year.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern Munich, during a meeting in Munich, made it clear, that the conduct and actions of the Canadian association did not completely fulfil the duty to ensure Davies’ protection.
Canada Soccer is obliged to take very serious the health of its players just like all other national associations.

Following Alphonso Davies’s cruciate ligament rupture during international duty in March this year, FC Bayern held a detailed discussion with representatives of the Canadian Soccer Association (Canada Soccer) about the circumstances surrounding the player’s serious injury.
At a meeting in Munich, FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen made it clear that the conduct and actions of the Canadian association did not entirely fulfil the duty to protect Davies. Like all other national associations, Canada Soccer is obliged to prioritise the health of its players.
Bayern Munich will be compensated financially by The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) for the injury to the Canadian defender as part of the FIFA Club Protection Programme.
The actual amount of this compensation remains unknown.
CEO Dreesen has now made known he will intensify contact with the national associations of contracted Bayern Munich players with the aim to emphasize even more firmly the need to keep to protection obligations in the event of injury.
Bayern Munich accumulated a total of eighty-two (82) points to win the Bundesliga 2024/25 title, and trailed by Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen who finished with 69 points.
The Bavarians shift focus to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 which will take place in the United States of America (USA) and hosted in more than ten (10) Stadia.
Bayer Leverkusen Spanish head coach, Xabi Alonso, has parted ways with the Black and Reds and moved to Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid, following the exit of Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti has now been named the head coach of the Brazil Senior National Football Team.
Alonso was unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid by the Club President, Florentino Perez.
