Matheus Nunes netted an additional-time winner for reigning Kings, Manchester City, to earn a dramatic 2-1 win over Aston Villa that moves them up to third in the Premier League table.
The narrow win has now placed Pep Guardiola’s City well to secure a spot in next season’s Uefa Champions League, and put an end to the villans’ five-game winning run in the league.
Bernardo Silva placed the hosts ahead early, in the 7th minute, but Unai Emery’s side levelled through Marcus Rashford in the 18th minute from the penalty spot following a VAR intervention for a foul by Ruben Dias on Jacob Ramsey.
Nunes found the winner for Manchester City in the 4th minute of additional time to take City to third, one point above Nottingham Forest, while Aston Villa are 7th.
The race to Uefa Champions League 2025/26 remains open.
