Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has expressed disappointment following his side’s 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen on Saturday 26 October, 2024 at Weserstadion.
Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, opened scoring for the Black and Reds in the 30th minute, however, the visitors could not hold on and the hosts levelled in the 90th minute, forcing the Champions to share points.
The Spanish manager said, “we can’t be satisfied after giving away the lead twice.”
In his post-match comments, Alonso said: “in the end, we can’t be satisfied after giving away the lead twice. It’s not the first time that’s happened to us this season.
“At the moment, we are lacking stability. If we can get that back, we’ll get better.”
Swiss midfielder, Granit Xhaka, described the outcome as a “defeat”, saying, “we are currently conceding too many and giving away goals too easily.”
In his post-match comments, Xhaka said: “It feels like a defeat. We’re currently conceding too many and giving away goals too easily. We need to be closer to our opponents. We’re disappointed.”
