At least eleven (11) people have been killed by floods and landslides after a violent tropical storm caused heavy rain on the Philippines.
After brushing past the Bicol region southeast of Manila overnight, Tropical Storm Yagi struck into the main island of Luzon on Monday, with forecast of more heavy rain that the weather service of the State said could lead to flooding and more landslides.
As a precautionary measure, schools and government officer were shut for the day, also ferry services were temporarily halted in some areas, and some domestic flights were cancelled due to unfavourable weather.
Three people, encompassing a pregnant woman, were killed in a landslide on Monday in Antipolo near Manila, Relly Bonifacio, City Information Ministry, told AFP news agency.
