Israel V Hamas: ‘In Gaza, the scale of destruction and loss is staggering’ – UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has expressed serious worry that, “in North Gaza strip, the scale of destruction and loss is staggering”.

This is as a result of the fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants, known as Hamas, in the region.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas started after Hamas launched a surprise attack on the Southern region of Israel in the early hours of Saturday 7 October, 2023, killing several Israelis with many others taken hostage.

In retaliation to the surprise attack, Israel launched aerial strikes and imposed a siege on Gaza.

The siege prevented the entry of food, clean water, medicine, electricity and many other necessities.

According to UNRWA: “In north #GazaStrip, the scale of destruction and loss is staggering.

“This is an unprecedented level of destruction and forced displacement, taking place in front of our eyes.”
