President of Nigeria Tinubu elected Chairman of ECOWAS

Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been elected Chairman of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) at the 63rd Ordinary Session in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau on Sunday 9 July, 2023.

President Tinubu succeeds Guinea-Bissau President, Umaro Embalo, as ECOWAS Chairman.

Tinubu said, “We will take democracy seriously, Democracy is very tough but it is the best form of government.”
