In the morning of today, Wednesday 5 April, 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, based on the Nigeria Startup Act 2023, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nigeria Startup Bill was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as an Executive Bill on 15 December 2021, and subsequently transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration
On October 19, 2022, it was assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Prof. Ibrahim said, “Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari has consistently been setting new records when it comes to ICT contribution to GDP.
“Q1 2020 – ICT alone (excluding digital services) contributed a record 14% to GDP.
“Q2 2021 – 17.92%
“Q2 2022 – 18.44%.”
According to Presidency Nigeria:
The new National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be chaired by the President, with the Vice President as Vice Chair.
