2023 Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Israel Adesanya on his triumph over rival, Alex Pereira.

Adesanya discomfited Pereira by knockout in the UFC 287 in Miami.
Born in Lagos State, Nigeria, Israel Adesanya moved to New Zealand, where he practises mixed martial arts and kickboxing.
Adesanya defeated Pereira to reclaim his middleweight championship belt.
Atiku described Adesanya’s victory as a “sweet gift for the season”.
Adesanya, said in his post-fight comments: “revenge is sweet and I’ve got a sweet tooth”.
The former Vice President of Nigeria said: “What a sweet gift for the season by Israel Adesanya. Congratulations, we are proud of you for retaining the UFC middleweight title.”
